OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Working as part of a global team and reporting to the Vice President, Ocean Freight, Americas, the individual must be a hands on individual who works with global, regional and country stakeholders to develop ocean products, develop influential senior supplier relationships, execute ocean strategies that ensure growth in market share above market, maximize profit and reduce cost to serve commercially and operationally.
The key accountability will be to deliver on all commercial & operational aspects of ocean product in line with the Americas and global ocean strategies including:
- Procurement of ocean freight rates, space & services;
- Ocean product strategy development, implementation and execution;
- Developing and Presenting product value propositions as the subject matter expert in your area
- Streamlining ocean freight operations through improvement of existing or development of new processes, while seeking to implement automation of existing processes;
- The development of bespoke customer solutions for the company.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop & Maintain Senior Supplier Relationships to deliver best in market Ocean Rates & Products
- Negotiate FCL/LCL Import and Export rates and other terms and conditions attached to ocean freight products.
- FCL/LCL – Capacity Management & Product Development
- Ocean Freight Pricing and Management
- Service Delivery & Performance Improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive working knowledge (5+ years) of, and relationships with, providers of ocean freight products including carriers and co-loaders.
- Experienced in ocean freight space management.
- Methodical, planned and organised with high attention to detail.
- Deep knowledge of Global Forwarding operations & market (i.e. competitors, carriers, equipment types/sizes, and clients & services).
- Local & International logistics market knowledge.
- Strong computer skills, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and EDI Enterprise.
- Experience dealing with customers and internal stakeholders, with a strong customer focus and service ethic.
- Working knowledge of the sales and tender processes.
