OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Senior Accountant must have strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for resolution to management. Primary responsibilities include accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany netting, agent reconciliations, month-end journal entries, etc. Partner and collaborate with the business and our overseas shared service center to ensure corporate processes are implemented and managed.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Finance
- Inter-company reconciliations, analysis, and dispute resolution (30+ entities globally)
- Balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, and balance resolution recommendations
- Manage external agent netting reconciliations and dispute resolution
- Collaborate with operations finance to ensure proper WIP and Accruals
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions
- Other financial duties as required by the manager
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical (Doing skills – job-related knowledge, policies, procedures, techniques)
- The successful candidate should have proven experience as a senior accountant or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of proper accounting procedures
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookup’s, etc.
- Awareness of business trends
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end / year-end close processes
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Client (internal and external) focus with strong service ethic and skills
- Methodical, planned, and organized with high attention to detail and good time management
- Knowledge of freight forwarding requirements, markets, and regulations (preferred)
- Prior experience with Cargo Wise One (CW1) (preferred)
Education: BS in Accounting or Finance
Industry: Preferred 5+ years in global forwarding or a large global organization
