OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Senior Accountant must have strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for resolution to management.  Primary responsibilities include accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany netting, agent reconciliations, month-end journal entries, etc.  Partner and collaborate with the business and our overseas shared service center to ensure corporate processes are implemented and managed.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Finance

• Inter-company reconciliations, analysis, and dispute resolution (30+ entities globally)
• Balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, and balance resolution recommendations
• Manage external agent netting reconciliations and dispute resolution
• Collaborate with operations finance to ensure proper WIP and Accruals
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions
• Other financial duties as required by the manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical (Doing skills – job-related knowledge, policies, procedures, techniques)

• The successful candidate should have proven experience as a senior accountant or similar role
• Thorough knowledge of proper accounting procedures
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookup’s, etc.
• Awareness of business trends
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end / year-end close processes
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Client (internal and external) focus with strong service ethic and skills
• Methodical, planned, and organized with high attention to detail and good time management
• Knowledge of freight forwarding requirements, markets, and regulations (preferred)
• Prior experience with Cargo Wise One (CW1) (preferred)

Education:         BS in Accounting or Finance

Industry:            Preferred 5+ years in global forwarding or a large global organization
