Job Description

General Duties: 
 

  • Develop positive relationships with customers, overseas partners, carriers and customs brokers.
  • Provide a full range of services from beginning to the end of the shipping cycle.
  • Work with carriers to book and obtain best rates and routing for each shipment.
  • Track and trace shipments for all phases of the shipping cycle with carriers and agents.
  • Confirm and communicate shipment details in pre-alerts and updates to agents and shippers.
  • Accurate and timely data entry into the Cargowise system for all phases of a shipment. 
  • Arrange transportation, schedule pick-ups from shippers utilizing reliable service providers.
  • Confirm weight and dimensions once the shipment is received. 
  • Understand and apply visual compliance, AES filing, and wood packaging requirements.
  • Produce and process timely and accurate invoice files. 
  • Ensure all applicable documents are processed correctly. 
  • Accurately assess shipment requirements, including weight and dimensions to provide the best  carrier shipment and route options.
  • Provide standard quotes for ocean shipments (FCL, LCL). 
  • Dispatch shipments for inland transfer to meet lock outs for shipments booked.
  • Identify incoming shipments and ensure shipping information is accurate. 
  • Liaise with customs brokers to provide timely entry and release for deliveries.
  • Coordinate carrier release by submitting required bills of lading and freight payments.
  • Dispatch notifications for final delivery. 


Qualifications:
 

  • Customer focused work ethic. 
  • Excellent proactive communication, interpersonal and organization skills. 
  • Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Effective problem solving skills. 
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Cargowise system knowledge a plus.
  • Strong and accurate keying skills, with high data integrity.
