Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • To perform district import operations and provide all associated documentation.
  • Obtain documentation from carrier operators, match them with pre-advices and open file in the PROLINK system.
  • Issue delivery orders to carriers and arrange timely delivery.
  • Complete all inbound moves, including but not limited to ITs and permits to transfer.
  • Obtain all necessary documents and charges prior to releasing freight.
  • Trace lost freight and shortages; follow-up with airlines/shipping lines and inform all stations/agents involved.
  • File preliminary notices of claim.
  • Notify all parties when payable and receivable documents are completed accurately and forwarded in a timely manner.
  • Assure that each file contains all necessary documentation in correct sequence.
  • Maintain logs, POLINK entries and import traffic.
  • Appropriately make copies of documents for distribution according to the consignees’ and/or country-of-origin requirements.
  • Report all pertinent information to Department Manager customer/vendor problems or unusual situations that may impact services.
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to perform combined duties.
  • Close communication with customers and carriers.
  • Complete workload duties within normal, reasonable time periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Some college or AA degree from an accredited college.
  • One or two years minimum experience in Air Import processes and procedures.
  • A basic understanding of INCO terms.
  • Experience of bonded freight and cargo.
  • Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, dependable, persistence, time management, independent, documentation skills, scheduling and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and vendors.
  • Proven ability to suggest and implement corrective actions in case of issues that may arise.
