Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, target, and close new target accounts that fit the core competencies of company
  • Support annual sales and profit goals for multinational or large North American customers.
  • Meet with existing customers on a regularly scheduled basis to identify new business opportunities or for the purpose of maintaining current account revenues.
  • Develop and maintain long term strategic relationships with customers.  
  • Respond to complex and sensitive logistical issues and questions; create innovative and profitable solutions
  • Prepare responses for customer RFP’s/RFQ’s and deliver within the customer specified timeline.
  • Prepare presentations that support solutions to the customer.
  • Determine rates and tariffs as well as establish and negotiate contracts for sensitive and complicated transactions.
  • Strategically partner with other departments, including Sales, IT, Finance and Operations to ensure continual and consistent service is provided
  • Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customer.  Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for achieving budgetary goals for territory.
  • Regularly review account credit statements and DSO.
  • Identify cross sell opportunities for the company 
  • Create and manage territory sales plan and execute against that plan
 

Requirements:

  • Must have 5-7 years of air/ocean freight forwarding sales and international logistics
  • Proven sales territory success, negotiation, persuasion and presentation skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to function autonomously and use good judgment in a diverse, global environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 7-10 years related experience and/or training
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
